OUR STORY

It’s in
The knit
At Woolloomooloo, we’re a small Australian company with a big obsession: Merino wool. But here’s the kicker: we don’t just use wool; we KNIT it.
Knitting is our magic ingredient. It’s what sets us apart from boiled wool shoes that are dense, heavy, and less durable. It’s why we spend more to produce our shoes than other wool shoe brands—because knitting creates shoes that are softer, stretchier, and better in every way. It’s not cheap. It’s not easy. But it’s absolutely worth it.

Why Knitting Matters
Boiled wool? Forget it. Boiling processes the natural elasticity out of wool, leaving it stiff and unbreathable. Plastic sneakers are even worse. They’re sweaty, suffocating, and terrible for the environment. Not us. We knit our shoes from a single super fine strand of Merino wool, keeping its natural properties intact, giving you:
- Breathability: Your feet stay cool, dry, and happy.
- Flexibility: Moves with you, not against you.
- Durability: Holds its shape wear after wear and refreshes after a wash.
- Moisture-Wicking: Pulls sweat away from your feet and releases it into the air, keeping you dry all day.
- Temperature Regulation: Naturally adapts to your body, keeping your feet warm in winter and cool in summer.
- Washability: Machine washable for effortless care—toss them in, air dry, and they’re as good as new.
We don’t knit because it’s easy (it’s not). We knit because it’s better.
It All Starts
With merino
Merino wool is no ordinary wool. It’s renewable, sustainable, biodegradable, and softer than you ever thought possible. Grown on the backs of Australian sheep and harvested with care, it’s the secret to the most comfortable footwear in the world.
Finer Than Human Hair
Merino wool fibers are so fine, they’re softer than regular wool. Our digital knitting process preserves this softness, making Woolloomooloo shoes even gentler against your skin.

Wool Knows No Season
Thanks to its natural crimp, Merino wool traps heat when it’s cold and releases moisture when it’s warm, keeping your feet cozy in winter and cool in summer.
Sustainability at Its Core
Growing on sheep like hair on your head, Merino wool is one of the world’s most sustainable fibers. It’s renewable, biodegradable, and requires less frequent washing, saving water and energy.
We’re proud to source our wool through The Woolmark Company, ensuring the highest quality fibers and the health and happiness of our sheep.

Comfort Without Compromise
At Woolloomooloo, we believe great shoes shouldn’t come with compromises. That’s why we’ve built something better—shoes that are softer, stronger, and smarter, all thanks to the power of Merino wool and our groundbreaking digital knitting process.
No shortcuts. No compromises. Just the best shoes Merino wool can make, thanks to the KNIT.
